After Some Help - Which Windows Would Be Best?

I picked up a small netbook just for basic browsing, an Acer, only paid £90 for it and it runs perfectly for my needs.

Trouble being it only has 32gb storage. And I spend more time managing that than I do using it for it's intended purpose. Every time there's a windows update it grinds to a halt because there's no space left.

So which of the many versions of windows 10 available here would be best suited?

I would go with 32-bit Windows 10 lite v.6 and then disable Windows update (if there isn't that version in 32-bit, then something else really lite).

Disabling update is not recommended.

here is what you should do.
Install windows 10 32 bit (its takes around 10 gb and smaller than 8.1 and 7)
no need to disable updates. and use windows slimmer

You must be registered for see links

to remove your outdated winsxs libraries and update files.
monthly update size for win 10 rs3, 32 bit is around 350 MB. and its not big. and windows slimmer can remove your outdated update files. so your installation size will be minimal even after long time.
so if we assume 12 gb size for installation including updates and a browser, then you still have 20 gb space left. its enough.
done.

I've few reasons for choosing 10 over others.
better driver support, improved defender (no need of other av), improved security, good looks, takes less space, and gives equal or better performance compared to other win os on low end hardware.
but there are few things i do right away after installing 10. first install startisback++ and wumt wrapper script to set updates to manual. or you set connection to metered to not allow automatic updates.
