FreeFileSync is a simple folder comparison and synchronization software that creates and manages backup copies of all essential user files. Instead of copying every file every time, FreeFileSync determines the differences between a source and a target folder and transfers only the minimum amount of data needed. FreeFileSync supports multiple languages for the interface, has a good response time, and includes user documentation.
FreeFileSync is available for Windows, macOS, and Linux. It also works on 64bit operating systems on all platforms. The program can be installed in two versions as a standard installer on Windows or as a portable application (no registry entries). Furthermore important is that the Windows Registry is not updated with new entries, and no leftover files can be found on the hard drive after program removal.
The application is powered by a clean, smooth, intuitive interface; this tool offers a myriad of features for synchronization purposes. It allows a user to pick one of two modes for the comparison procedure, by file time and size, or by file content. Comparison can be quickly made, with the click of a button or by using the "drag and drop" method.
Besides, a user may choose a variant for the synchronization mode, between "two way" and 'mirror.' Plus, users can ignore all error dialogs which pop up, send files to the Recycle Bin or permanently remove them from the system when deleting items, configure filters, as well as save the configuration settings for future projects; the file list can be exported to file.
