Hi all, ive messed up and bought a 1tb m.2 ssd and didnt research 1st.

ive heard problems present when doing this....

my win 10 is corrupt or current ssd is. i planned to install win 10 i got from here (thanks)

i want to remove the old ssd - pop in the new v-nand ssd 860evo sata m.2 and fresh install win 10 - then scrub the old ssd and see if its work keeping.

creating a clone is a bad idea cos its corrupt - wont even let me run dism or scannow etc - constant crashing....

how do i go about a fresh install?

i dont really understand why i need to make a clone and cant just boot from the usb win 10. everyones saying its drivers, unsupported drive etc and has to be cloned.

ive yet to try this and thought id ask best advice here first - im expecting to attempt and the new m.2 wont show up to be able to install to. i dont really have the technical know how to fix the current win 10 install (ive tried) or how to repair the drive

please help :(

Please post your hardware specs
Depending on your hardware, issues might arise and the common solution might not work for you

1. The M.2 drive has to be the only drive installed. remove any other drive

2. Go into the bios, under the boot tab there is an option for CSM, make sure it is disabled.

3. Click on secure boot option below and make sure it is set to other OS, not windows UEFI.

4. Click on key management and clear secure boot keys.

5. Insert a USB memory stick with a UEFI bootable iso of Windows 10 on it.
A Windows DVD wonā€™t work unless youā€™ve created your own UEFI Bootable DVD.

6. Press F10 to save, exit and reboot.

7. Windows 10 will now start installing to your NVME drive as it has its own NVME driver built in.

8. When the PC reboots hit F2 to go back into the BIOS, you will see under boot priority that windows boot manager now lists your NVME drive.

9. Click on secure boot again but now set it to WIndows UEFI mode. (see #3 above)

10 - Click on key management and install default secure boot keys

11 - Press F10 to save and exit and windows will finish the install. Once you have Windows up and running, shutdown the PC and reconnect your other SATA drives.

Did the solution resolve the problem?
We can close the thread if there are no more issues to be addressed
