Ik, I feel a bit noob asking this question. But still I want to ask it because of my hardware limitations.

Ok so i've a china motherboard (zebronics z55) which doesn't allow Intel turbo boost. I've 2 processors, i3 540 and i7 870. The i3 540 has no turbo but works at 3.06ghz while i7 870 has turbo and works at 3.6ghz

Since I've no turbo support in my mobo, it works at half multiplier (i7 870). The max multiplier is 27 but on my pc it works at 22. i3 540 has max multiplier 23. Which one should I use for gaming? Since the i7 runs at half the speed, I believe it isn't gonna give as much results as i3 540? Any ideas?

PS: I've a GTX 1050 Ti OC edition GPU, so considering it too, what combination will perform better?

Try for yourself, first put in mobo i3, run the games you usually play, then switch to i7 and see the difference yourself.
Changing CPU takes what, 10-15 minutes tops?

Use ony AMD processors and suported motherboards you can't get wrong @icloudsr intel had big problems whit it's processors about 2-3 months ago

Yeah I'll upgrade to ryzen at some point maybe if I get enough budget, lol
@Sunehildeep go with i7 buddy, even though mobo not support the turbo. there is no much difference between the base frequency (i3-3.06GHz, i7-2.93GHz), plus i7 has more powerful cores (2 vs 4) and cache size (4MB vs 8MB)..
Okay I'll go with i7 then

I understood the same as @icloudsr , the user has doubts about 2 Intel processors (I3 or I7).
I'm sorry, but I don't see @Sunehildeep asking if choose an AMD or an Intel processor.
Correct me if I have misunderstood.
