I've seen multiple computers and laptops that come from a shop with a Windows installed system. However, it's mostly turned out that Windows is licensed for a specific period. If you're not sure until your Windows is licensed, here's how you can check it.

DOOaA.png

  • Open CMD
  • Enter the check command
Now you need to enter this command exactly like this: slmgr/xpr

DOBT5.jpg

  • Result
Case 1

If Windows is licensed by a specific date, it will type something like this: "Volume activation will expire xx / yy / zzz"

DOAZg.jpg

  • Case 2
If your Windows is licensed for lifetime, as is the case with me, then you will receive this message: "The machine is permanently activated"

What happens when it expires?

slmgr / xpr gives me error
slmgr /xpr (in the screenshot) is correct so you might want to change that.

Whenever you enter a command in cmd prompt, you rarely ever use spaces. So even though he had spaces in his post, doesn't mean that you literally copy it that way and enter it. You enter the command minus the spaces, unless otherwise specified. See my screenshot...>>>

Cool. I was getting the above error of Windows will soon expire, go to see tí gs to activate. I was able to check the expiry date using this command. Thanks for sharing.

Now I need a tool to permanently activate it. Which of the tools available is best for this purpos?

O yes. I finally used TeamOS Medicines v7. Was a seamless process. I opted for the 1st option hwid online activation. Now my windows is permanently activated and I won't see that annoying pop up of windows about to expire again. Gracias TeamOS

Using minus sign instead of the slash, it also works:
Code:
slmgr -xpr

Cool thanks, another command for my list.

I share more modifiers for SLMGR command:
comm_CMD.png

How to use: [command SLMGR] [/modifier]
Example:
Code:
SLMGR /dli

Thanks.

I first tried it in PowerShell. It didn't work. It worked in the simpler older command prompt!
