How to Hide Specified Control Panel Items in Windows
You can use Control Panel to change settings for Windows.
These settings control nearly everything about how Windows looks and works
and you can use them to set up Windows so that it's just right for you.
In Windows 10, there are a few different ways to find and change your settings:
Settings app,
Control Panel,
app settings,
Search
Most of the settings that you'll want to change can be found in the Settings app.
This Tip will show you how to hide specified Control Panel items for specific
or all users in Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 10.
IMPORTANT NOTE: This policy affects the Start menu and Control Panel WINDOWS only.
It does NOT prevent users from running Control Panel items.
You must be signed in as an Administrator to hide Control Panel items.
NOTE:
If both the Hide specified Control Panel items setting and the Show only specified Control Panel items setting are both enabled,
the "Show only specified Control Panel items" setting is ignored.
To Hide Specified Control Panel Items in Local Group Policy Editor
EXAMPLE: Control Panel (all icons view)

This will give you an overall view of The Control Panel Settings page for use in the following steps in this Tip...
How to Open Control Panel Icons View
a). Click on START button on Taskbar.
b). Scroll down Apps, which are in alphabetical order, to Windows System and click on it.
c). Select Control Panel and click on it to open it
NOTE: I used this example to open the Control Panel for demonstration. Feel free to open it by another means if you wish.
d). In upper right corner Of the Control Panel page, click on View by drop-down and select either Small icons or Large icons view.
Hide Specified Control Panel Items in Windows
To Hide Specified Control Panel Items in Local Group Policy Editor
NOTE: The Local Group Policy Editor is only available in the Windows 10 Pro, Enterprise, and Education editions.
1. Open the all users, specific users or groups, or all users except Administrators Local Group Policy Editor for how you want this policy applied.
How To Open Local Group Policy Editor Using Run
a). Open Run [Win] + R
b). Type: gpedit.msc in Run, and click/tap on OK.
NOTE: I used this example for demonstration. Feel free to open Local Group Policy Editor by another means if you wish.
2. In the left pane of the Local Group Policy Editor, click/tap on to expand User Configuration >>> Administrative Templates >>> Control Panel
3. In the right pane of Control Panel, double click/tap on Hide specified Control Panel items to edit it.
This opens the Hide specified Control Panel items window.
4. Proceed to STEP 5 (HIDE) or STEP 6 (UNDO) below for what you would like to do.
5. To HIDE Specified Control Panel Items
A) Select (dot) Enabled, and click/tap on the Show button under "Options". This will open a Show Contents window.
B) Enter the names of any Control Panel item, one per line you want hide, and click/tap on OK when finished.
NOTE: You would enter the same names EXACTLY as the icons in the Control Panel (icons view).
C) Click/tap on OK to apply.
NOTE: If the Control Panel is currently open, close and reopen it to apply changes.
As you can see, Storage Spaces is hidden from view in the Control Panel.
6. To No Longer Hide Control Panel Items
After already performing STEP 1 thru STEP 4,
A) Select (dot) either Not Configured or Disabled, click/tap on OK
NOTE: Not Configured is the default setting
If the Control Panel is currently open, then close and reopen it to apply changes.
B) As you can see, Storage Spaces has been unhidden.
7. When finished, you can close the Local Group Policy Editor if you like.
Personally for me, I've tried this and have hidden several items such
as Mail, Revo Uninstaller Pro and Phone and Modem which I have no use for.
I might remove more just for convienance.
Try it out on one or several items and
see for yourself how handy this can actually be for you.
Remember, this is more of a visual aid okay?
