Hi can someone assist please. Have a HP Pavilion 550-108a. After a clean installation of Win 7 I am left with no keyboard and mouse. From reading I understand that the USB driver needs to be added to a Windows 7 Installation but I am unsure how. Is there a Windows 7 version available that I can use to get my HP Pavilion 550-108a running. HP will not ship me the Windows 7 disk because the machine came out with Win 10. The machine does get released with windows 7 though so it can work.

Have you tried going to HP support/downloads
Also go to Control Panel>> Devise Manager..
Find any cautions or red flags.. If so try and install
or update drivers needed from there..
Good Luck

Once you install Windows 7 and you get the starting up for first time then enter PC name etc you have no keyboard or mouse to progress. Therefore you have not reached a stage for windows to complete. You can therefore not go to control panel or update or add drivers.

The only solution I found is to have the drivers added to your installation disk and installed automatically. I have never done this before and was hoping someone on here could make a Windows 7 OS with the required drivers or direct me to an already made one.

Did your keyboard/mouse work with Win 10.. If so quit messing around with Win 7 coz Win 10 is so much better..
Next buy a new Keyboard/Mouse with software/divers disk included.. If machine came with Win 10 thats what i would use..
Good Luck

Also did you install win 7 upgrade or a complete/clean install on a formatted hdd??

connect any USB Mouse and Keyboard and then goto HP Drivers page and download the necessary stuff (or download the HP Support Assistant and let it do the work)

this should make everything working again as Default Drivers were not there in Windows 7

Here is the Link:

kindly ensure that the Selected OS is Windows 7 :)

I hope this helps. waiting for your Reply..

There are many people who hate windows 10. I am one of those. There is a solution to this and that is to add the USB 3 driver to the windows 7 installation. I have never modified an O/S before because usually there is a version on this site that suits my needs. What I am asking is very easy for someone that has modified O/S before. If needed I will do the research and eventually resolve it myself. It may take me days where someone here might be able to do it in minutes. This issue will become increasingly more common as more desktops and laptops make it harder to go backwards. What is needed to run will not run on a Windows 10 machine. Yes you can mess with VM etc but what we need is a simple Windows 7 desktop.
I know if someone does a Windows 7 version with USB 3 support it will be popular. It will help many others on here.

so, you are asking to make a custom OS instead of just installing drivers by your own ???

You explain to me how to install drivers myself, rather than request help in making the driver part of the O/S.
Look I come here to ask for help if possible from someone that has experience in doing this. Obviously this is not something everyone can do. I am disappointed in some of the responses, mainly because people fail to read. So again once the O/S tries to set-up for the first time I have no keyboard and mouse. For those directing me to install the driver's, how do you expect me to do this without a mouse or keyboard. FInding the correct drivers is easy. Installing the driver's without them been included as part of the O/S is proving impossible.

Google me question you will see this is a common problem. Definitely not a once off. If it was minor problem I could solve it myself, I came here hoping to solve a difficult problem which may help many. Being a forum mainly of O/S's I thought this would be the best place to ask. Maybe I was wrong.

Anyway I appreciate the opportunity to ask for help. If someone has a solution for me please comment but before commenting please read the problem properly otherwise I can see a long thread with no solution.

Okay Okay Okay Sweetness. It's time to fix this matter here and right now. Shall we? Sure i will...................

@M4Master @TheMacGyver Buddies you have done a great job here, completely agree with you. But if someone can't agree to few conditions then better to avoid. LOL

@my-os your-os not fully supported with Laptop. most important yours laptop's usb port drivers not included into main OS, so all you need to get them separately. By hp or anywhere else.
Now this was so easy to understand but you're not registering this to your knowledge. Okay like i said i'm here to close this matter right now. So here we go:

Hot Fix: Check at back Panel ports. There should be 2 ports with 2.0 at back side of Laptop/pc and attach your keyboard/mouse there and see if it can access or not.

1. Check if your laptop really support windows 7 and it's features or not? Go to home page and check all the troubleshoot forum, then you will see bunch of topics where you might get solution.

2. How about this >
You went to shop, there is 2 kind of option > 110walt window cooler and 220walt window cooler, your electricity can only support 110walt electricity products. Now you bought 220wat window cooler, then you went to shop and asking them to Customize 220walt into 110walt? even that's your fault during purchase a correct one.
Now make difference here > Drivers instead of cooler > Get Keyboard/mouse driver separately from another system. (The same way you should exchange 220walts with 110walts instead of asking them to change 220 into 110)

3. Your laptop only came with Windows 10 Home 64bit. Understood? there is no mention of windows 7. only 8.1 or 10.

4. Lastly, keyboard/mouse driver isn't enough yet, Probably windows 7 default auto driver have not similar driver for your Laptop such Chipset/Ports (COM&LPT)/Interface devices. Etc!

5. Each Windows cannot give you auto drivers updation facility beside windows 10. Windows 7 might work but not possible it have whole drivers package for your laptop. Same thing with windows 8.1 & No one i say No one provide you or serve you a OS that includes your laptop's driver separately. Bunch of tools and driverpacks available to do that job.

Now please, Try to understand and try to fix your issue by following at-least one direction from this post. Else go back to windows 10 and Pm me, i will make your Windows 10 same as windows 7. you have my words! And No more space for this statement > He said this and he told me that. Read this post and enjoy weekend.
