How do I determine what version of Windows
Defender I have on my system, please?
First way
Press Win + I keys (open Settings) -> Click on the last icon, Update & security -> Click Windows Defender tab -> Move to the right portion, scroll down to the last until you find the heading Version Info.

Second way
In the search field, write out windows defender -> Click the tiny arrow alongside Help at the top right -> Click on the About dialogue box

Updates work perfectly! Use this for half year never experienced issue regarding updates on any Windows build I used, same with PowerShell!
Do you use custom OS?
See also comments above! None! Google the number of error to see solutions.

When I attempt to run "start.exe" I see a cmd window open for a fraction of a second then it disappears...
I also tried to run the "RemoveDefender.cmd" and it does the same as above...
Run as Administrator did not help...

I disabled all Anti-Virus/Malware software prior to doing the above...

This was attempted on a VMware 2019 LTSC with CU .652

I am able to run "removedefenderonline", the cmd window opens properly, but I doubt this is the correct/preferred method to achieve success...

Any advice to be able to use RemoveDefender as intended would be greatly appreciated...

@MMIKEE87
Hmm weird situation. Never experienced that!
Does your path have a empty space in it? Try to unzip on desktop and run it!

Thanks for the feedback,
Per your advice, I placed the program folder on the desktop and was able to Double Click to run the "RemoveDefender.cmd"

However, when attempting to use the "start.exe", it still fails to open the cmd window...
So this begs the question: Is the "start.exe" important for the proper execution of the "RemoveDefender.cmd" ???

Yes, it is because it gives full privileges and permission to relevant .cmd file to execute all commands. For that it uses Nsudo!!!
You can try with the Online.cmd but I think it will not remove all content.

Thought food:
1. Try to open script on the host machine and see what happens.
2. Does your username has two words

I am using this script for a long time without any issue. All updates works, all I use it works

When using the Host PC, the "start.exe" attempts to open the cmd window but fails also as previously reported...

Yes, my user name on the Host PC and the VMware OS both have 2 words separated with a SPACE...
Are you suggesting this is the cause of the issue and if so why? I've never heard of the User Name interfering with a .exe to run...

Update:
For TESTING, I copied the RemoveDefender folder to C: and "start.exe" opened the cmd window properly...
I also discovered that the Folder Name cannot have any spaces... Apparently, this is a restriction of Nsudo...
