Hello,
First of all, BIG FAN!!!!!

Coming to my problem now, I am using windows 8.1 on a laptop with the following details:-

Operating System: Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit (6.3, Build 9600) (9600.winblue_ltsb_escrow.200127-1700)
Language: English (Regional Setting: English)
System Manufacturer: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC.
System Model: X550LC
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4200U CPU @ 1.60GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.3GHz
Memory: 4096MB RAM
Available OS Memory: 3980MB RAM
Page File: 2514MB used, 5560MB available
Windows Dir: C:\Windows
DirectX Version: DirectX 11
DX Setup Parameters: Not found
User DPI Setting: Using System DPI
System DPI Setting: 96 DPI (100 percent)
DWM DPI Scaling: Disabled
DxDiag Version: 6.03.9600.17415 64bit Unicode
NVIDIA graphics 2GB 730M

Every OS I use, it kind of slows down my laptop. But, if I use the same OS on other similar type laptops, they work perfectly fine.
What shall I do ? Or should I look for an OS with no useless features only ? Or to remove/uninstall unwanted features and stop services forever that arent of any use ?

Please help.

Thanks a Lot

When your problem is resolved, let us know so we can close this thread.

Btw, my Toshiba Satellite laptop has somewhat similar specs, except it has an i7 (4 cores, 8 threads) 8 gigs ram, nVidia GeForce GT 330m 1gig and 512 gig SSD. Despite it's age at 10 years, it still runs the full Windows 10 OS with no problems and no slowness. Drivers are also up to date.

I kinda suspect that maybe your drivers weren't up to date as you didn't mention anything about them. Outdated drivers can cause slowness.
You may want to consider updating them when you install your OS again.

I guess actually that time windows 10 was not that stable... People used to use windows 8/8.1 which i guess is a troublesome OS according to me.. Windows 10 is way to go for now stable & amazing...

Drivers are the biggest issue with Asus. They dont provide long term support for their software. I have to manually find them one by one.
The usual way of updating drivers via Device Manager never works for me. It says: Everything is up to date.
Also the graphics driver is a mess. I cant use the usual Intel Driver. I have to use so Asus Build that too expired like a couple years ago :(

btw, I just downloaded Win10 Lite and Win8.1 Lite. Will start with 10 first. then let you know :)

Thanks

The traditional Hard Disk only. no SSD.

I'm willing to bet that the sentence I underlined is the cause of your problem.
From what I read in your first post, you have nVidia graphics - Why are you using Intel drivers for your nVidia graphics?
I grab my updated nVidia graphics driver direct from the nVidia site. Works every time. Try using the proper drivers for your nVidia graphics card and see how that works.

It asks me to install intel drivers first. then only I can install Nvidia Driver. Also, if I download and install em directly from their respective websites, I get the some OEM error and it stops their installation. So now, I allow windows update to search and install them for me on their own.
