Good day to all. :emo:

I was wondering if someone can help me on how to unlock my DVR HDD so that i can install and use this as a normal and regular HDD. Recently, i bought a Seagate 1TB SATA HDD that was used as a DVR HDD, i wasn't aware that the drive was locked and i don't even have an access to a DVR to unlock/format the drive. I hope that someone can help me get through this misery and continue my plan to install a version of Windows on the drive. Thank you in advance. ;)

Does Windows recognize the disk? Format in Disk Manager. Then you can use it for whatever you like. :) Hope that helps.

I understood sir @TheMacGyver , but when i installed it as slave and go to disk management i wasn't able to format or delete the drives. And the worst part my system is hanging and that forces me to restart my system.

I simply cannot format the drive in disk management sir @roma1234 because it keeps on hanging. Even when i open My Computer, it takes too long to load and shows the drives and sometimes it hangs.

@Galahad i guess u can try booting to HirenBoot/Windows PE & such other live cds and try formatting or deleting the volume partition in it. Or best way is what @TheMacGyver said.

@Galahad First check the connectors ( both sata and power ), try new ones ! If you are hearing strange noises (crackling) inside HDD i do not think it's worth it any more . I do not recommend using a HDD (works 24h of 24h non stop ) from a DVR system on your personal computer ! If everything is ok any software solution (mentioned above) must work .
P.S : Sorry for my english . Good luck !
