Tech News Windows 10 19H2, the “November 2019 Update,” has reached a final build with 18363.418 and is “getting ready for release”

Two days ago, Microsoft released KB4517389, or build 18363.418 to Slow Ring Insiders, and tonight the company has announced that this latest build is the final 19H2 build before getting it “ready for release” in the coming weeks.

To recap, Windows Insiders in the Release Preview Ring have been getting updates to the May 2019 Update, and recently have been getting Cumulative Updates to build 18362, with the latest version this final one at 18362.418. In addition, some Windows Insiders in the Release Preview Ring were offered an “enablement package” to move them to 19H2 have been getting the same updates, as the November 2019 Update is a “servicing release.” The only difference is those 19H2 Release Preview builds have been bumped up by one build number, to 18363.

If you’re on the May 2019 Update, but in the Slow Ring, your current build number is 18362.100xx (it’s .10022 here), Microsoft will be moving you to the 20H1 Slow Ring in the coming weeks, according to this evening’s blog post:

With the Windows 10 November 2019 Update now being finalized, we are planning to move Windows Insiders in the Slow ring forward to 20H1. We are looking to make this change in the coming weeks. Now is the time for you to verify your desired Windows Insider Program settings by going to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Insider Program to ensure you are on the ring you want to be on before this change occurs. If you are an Insider who wishes to remain on the November 2019 Update – you will want to switch to the Release Preview ring. In the coming weeks, we plan to move Insiders who are on Build 18362.100xxx forward to the final November 2019 Update build.

So to try to cut to the chase, and depending on what build number and Windows Insider Ring you’re on, you can do a number of things. We’ll take it from low build number on up:
If you’re on 18362.100xx (May 2019 Slow Ring)

If you stay on the Slow Ring, you’ll be moved to the 20H1 Slow Ring in the coming weeks, or
You can move to the Release Preview Ring and get 18363.418 (the November 2019 Update) now (update: in this scenario, you will not be offered 18363.418 immediately, as clarified in an updated note in the Windows blog post: NOTE: If you move from the Slow ring to the Release Preview ring today and are on Build 18362.100xx you will NOT be offered Build 18363.418 yet. As mentioned above, we will move you forward in the coming weeks. )

If you’re on the May 2019 Update on the Release Preview Ring (18362.418)

You already have the latest bits, but if you want to have the latest build numbers and you’re in the Release Preview Ring, just check for updates and you can move to the November 2019 Update Release Preview Ring (18363)

If you’re on the November 2019 Update(19H2) Release Preview Ring (18363.418)

You already have the latest bits for the November 2019 Update

To get the latest November 2019 Update bits now, if you don’t already have them, say if you’re on one of the lower numbered builds or even if you’re not active in the Windows Insider Program, Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Insider Program and either click on “Get Started” to join the Insider Program and “Choose “Just fixes, apps, and drivers” to join the Release Preview ring and get the November 2019 Update.” You can check the Windows Insider blog post for more detailed information.

Once you’re in the Release Preview Ring, restart your PC (important!) and then check for updates, and you’ll go through the process of updating to 18363.418, and welcome to the Windows 10 November 2019 Update!

Once you’ve moved to the November 2019 Update, you can then choose to stay in the Release Preview Ring, move to a different Ring, or move out of the Insider Program, and you’ll stay on 18363.418 (until the next official update), being among the first to receive the official November 2019 Update to Windows 10.
