:inlove: Windows 10 is beautiful. I have enjoyed using it for the past 5 years ever since I built my desktop computer.

Recently, it has been asking me to update. Suddenly, it would 'automatically' do it without my permission.
However, it would revert back to previous state/version realizing that I have small space to do the update. (I usually have 8 Gb of free C: space).

To stop this 'automatic' update, I finally freed up about 40 Gb of free space, then I let it do the update.
It proceeded to update showing percentage. However, as it went to 100%, somehow, it decided to revert back to previous version.
It did not stop there. It started restarting then going back to that message again ("Reverting back to previous version") then repeating again and again.
It has got stuck in a loop.

So, I looked for a solution in the internet. I made a Windows 10 bootable pen drive. I used that to "repair the system".
It gave me a message saying it failed to repair it, however, the computer went to the log-in window. Thank goodness!

I managed to run my computer again. But, to my horror, Windows 10 is asking me to update the computer again every 20 or so minutes.
Annoying! More importantly, scary as hell! I would let it update again but the same old story happened all over again.
I am stuck in a loop of nightmare that I cannot wake up. It is like a horror movie!

My question is:
Is there any fix to this update loop? I tried stopping the update by disabling it at 'service.msc'.
Or, going to control panel and stopping the automatic downloads, which i believe won't do anything since it has already downloaded the files.
It probably has a corrupted update file.

Would installing a new Windows 10 version help it? I was thinking of downloading the OS here from teamos site then installing it.
I am currently downloading the Super Office Windows 10.

How about installing the older version such as Windows 8/7?

Thanks guys for any tips!

I'll try looking for those and manually install updates. I'll probably do the "reinstall" as my last resort.
It makes sense that it would definitely fix it as it will erase everything and install it anew.
Unfortunately, I do VR gaming so I have lots of large downloaded VR files that's why i didn't have space.
Although, I probably can back those up on my external HD. :)
I do need a change, might as well install a cool Windows 10. My desktop screen is still the same old one as I have 5 years ago.
Did you try to delete all cache from "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Update" folder?

You also can try (both are freeware for the thing you need it)
1. Fix WU Utility
2. TweakingDOTcom's Windows repair https://teamos-hkrg.com/index.php?threads/windows-repair-all-in-one-v4-4-6-portable.76736/

Stop messing with the Windows updates. There is a lot of programs who block or give the user control over updates. Use search bar!
I went to that Software Distribution folder but I do not see the Update folder/file.

I will try those Windows Repair apps. Wow it looks like a Super App!

I spent MONTHS trying to update from Windows 10 v1709 to v1803. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING worked. I spent countless hours with MS tech support, both regular and "level 2" trying to avoid the inevitable reinstall but the end result was always the same. The only solution for me was to finally give-in and do a complete reinstall. it was painful having to reinstall all my software but at least the all the updates are working. I'm dreading the coming 1903 release and Microsoft's poor record of a smooth update process. Good luck. You're gonna need it.

My problem is solved!

What I did:
1) I decided to just back up all my important files in a external HD. And then do a full installation.
2) I made a new pen drive bootable usb using the recently posted Windows 10 pro by Hawkeye:
https://www.teamos-hkrg.com/index.php?threads/windows-10-pro-x64-rs5-incl-office-2019-en-us-may-2019-gen2.79167/
3) Once the installation has loaded to 100%, I was given a choice: "Remove the bootable usb and press Yes to continue 'upgrade'; or press No to do a 'full installation'"
4) I chose Yes to try upgrading to see if it will work. This is different from the "update" that Win10 keeps asking me; it is asking for 'upgrade'.
5) Somehow it finished upgrading with no loops.
6) Now I have Win10 Pro installed and there are no update files waiting to be installed anymore. I haven't gotten any annoying messages about Windows update for 12 hours.

So, none of my files got deleted while my Windows 10 has upgraded to Pro. I don't understand what happened but my computer is fixed.
I think having the Pro has given me all the latest updates so that Windows don't need to update me anymore.

Thanks to all. I knew you guys had something to help me!
