So far Gen2 is the only version of Windows 7 installation that boots and installs BUT then upon boot... I receive a ACPI bios is non compliant error.

Is this a driver missing issue or the bios actually not compatible with Windows 7?

I'm pretty sure the bios aren't compatible with win 7 have you try a lite Windows 10 on it?

From what it seems, the m3 stick has an incompatible ACPI table than what windows 7 expects. It does support win 8.1 and 10 so going lite 10 might be a good option a @Wichestery2k said above.

Never hurts to try tho, make sure you have the BIOS options below and set them accordingly.

Press F2 during boot to enter BIOS Setup.
  1. Press F9 to set all BIOS options to default values.
  2. Select Advanced.
    1. On the Devices and Peripherals > SATA menu, Chipset SATA Mode is set to AHCI.
    2. On the Boot > Boot Priority menu, in the Legacy Boot Priority pane, Legacy Boot is enabled (checked).
    3. On the Boot > Boot Configuration menu, in the UEFI Boot pane, OS Selection is set to Windows 7.
  3. Press F10 to save and exit BIOS Setup.
The reason you want the above changes is that if the SATA is not set to AHCI, ACPI cant read its power state and things that you have HDD connected that is not responding even when you have none. If the above options are not present (even after a bios update) then win 8.1 and/or 10 are your only options.

Remember to set legacy boot to off and the Boot Configuration menu in the UEFI Boot pane, set to windows 8x/10 if you plan to install windows 8.1 or 10.

I hope it helped.

I don't believe this compute stick has sata. So no ahci mode. It has an eMMC for storage. UEFI and legacy boot options are available independently of each other.

Intel forum told me that Windows 7 isn't blocked by the bios because it's a 6th generation Intel processor but they don't provide drivers for it.

I've found Windows 7 drivers for the graphics/audio on their website and the graphics inf file does say that 6th core m processor is supported by the driver.

This compute stick has a TPM 2.0 chip. Does anyone know if the Gen2 version of Windows 7 includes the KB2920188 hotfix?
