Shot in the dark here... do you have any system restore points? Sometines reverting back to when things worked properly is the best remedy?

If I read this correctly, it doesn't sound like a hardware problem. It could be that your audio sample rate/ bit depth is set to the wrong one. To check if this is the problem, right-click on the speaker icon in the system tray (or taskbar, depending on your layout), and click "Open Sound Settings". In the new window click "Sound Control Panel" on the right side (under "Related Settings). A "Sound" window will open. Find your default playback device (I have a sound card installed so I have a few choices, but if you don't you shouldn't have that many to choose from). Once you find it, double click on it and select the "Advanced" tab. Then, in the drop-down menu select something different from what it's set to (usually a lower one). Take note of what it is in case this isn't the solution.

Good luck. Keep us updated.

Man, since you did fresh installs and it's still occurring, disregard my advice. I'm with @Yash Dedhia. It sounds like a hardware problem. Is the laptop new and still under warranty?

In sound there are 4 things to keep in mind:

a) hardware (sound interface, sound card)
b) updated drivers compatible with the OS.
c) audio output devices (speakers, headphones)
d) correct hardware configuration (sampling rate, bit depth).

If you don't know how to test each of these things, go to a friend with experience or technical service.

are you using external speakers ?
does the crackling come out built in speakers ?
does the crackling happen when turning volume up on screen or on external speakers ?
answering these questions would help fault find your problem
the 3.5mmjack socket for headphones or external speakers can cause this sort of problem....
faulty or dirty potentiometer used for volume tone on external speakers can cause this sort of problem
hope this helps .......

I'm glad you were able to solve the problem, at least via Bluetooth
