I don't use a virtual machine, I do the customization on a partition of the main machine (PC).

Capturing the .wim image is much faster.
Good idea. I have to use Vm cos i dont have much space on my hdds. You are right sir.

Windows installation takes up the same space if you do it in VM or in another partition.

Hello Mr. Grimbahir,

"- Put the copyprofile.xml in the root of any drive except for the c:\ drive."

I couldn't quite get this one. Windows is installed on the C:\ drive in virtual hard disk, so everything about the os is in the C drive. If we shouldn't copy it in the C:\ drive then how can we save our customizations?
This last step is so tricky and sometimes messy. I have tried putting the copyprofile.xml inside the sysprep folder and I got horrible results. I tried putting it in the root of the c drive (where the system is installed), got bad results too. The only workable way was to make a virtual drive (any size) while installing the os in the VM. then u put ur copyprofile.xml there. Be careful this step may not work due to some technical restrictions imposed by Microsoft like restarting os 3 times.

Unfortunately, even though i applied the steps successfully without errors, my customizations didn't get saved... :'(

In the cmd write these commands:
C:\Windows\System32\Sysprep\Sysprep /generalize /oobe /shutdown /unattend:x:\CopyProfile.xml
x= the drive where you put the file
in the copyprofile.xml dont forget to change the letter of the iso

Yes, I created a new virtual hard disk on the E:\ directory and copied the xml file there. Then did this command C:\Windows\System32\Sysprep\Sysprep /generalize /oobe /shutdown /unattend:E:\CopyProfile.xml

Put the CopyProfile.xml in the sysprep directory (in System32) then just use "C:\Windows\System32\Sysprep\Sysprep /generalize /oobe /shutdown" and the temporary profile will be copied to the default user, foolproof.

That is another way indeed.

Thanks...............

Depends what Virtual machine you used. If you used VMWare, you can mount vmdsk directly by right clicking the file or use any 3rd party application, there are numerous. Once the image is mounted open terminal as admin and type: "dism /capture-image /imagefile:c:\temp\install.wim /capturedir:z:\ /name:"Windows 10 Pro" /compress:maximum /checkintegrity /verify"

You can add more switches to that like /description /configfile etc
