KDE neon is a rapidly updated software repository. Most users will want to use the packages built from released software which make up our User Edition. KDE contributors and testers can use the packages built from KDE Git in the Testing and Unstable Editions. It uses the foundation of the latest Ubuntu LTS (20.04).

What is KDE?

How do I Update to the Latest Software?

KDE neon does continuous deployment of the latest KDE software which means there are nearly always new versions of our software to update to. We recommend using Plasma Discover's updater which appears in your panel:

If you prefer to use the command line you can use the pkcon command:

pkcon refresh
pkcon update

This will install all new packages and uses the same PackageKit code as Plasma Discover. Some uses of apt do not install new packages which makes it less suitable for KDE neon.

Home Grown for Development

While KDE neon is great for casual users, contributors will find KDE neon excels. Whether you are a coder, tester, artist, or do bug triage: KDE neon is the easiest way to work on the latest KDE software.

Our unstable and testing archives provides packages of KDE Software built on our continuous integration system directly from Git.

We believe open software developed outside a single corporate silo is important for healthy projects to incubate and grow. Ubuntu has been chosen as a base for its reliable core technology, but KDE neon itself is a separate KDE project aiming to best serve the interest of developers, users and the wider community.

None of them using as a main system for now, and I like Debian and some derivatives, but also tested some of Ubuntu builds, also ZorinOS that you regularly update.. This KDE Neon looks really nice.. Clean theme, fast and really compatible distro.. Thank you for all your effort with bringing Linux world to people that not really familiar with it.. ^_^

I have Verbatim Store'N'Go flash drive with 128GB storage and Ventoy installed on top of it.. And its almost full with sooo many windows, linux, recovery, winpe isos.. My heart will explode when I came to the point where I need to choose which .iso to delete from it, to copy new one..

Honestly if I was you, I will ensure that my 128 was not being used with Ventoy or be safe while using it. I lost 2 64 with ventoy due to one of their releases having some issue and that too unrecoverable issues. So just be safe mate. I have 4 16 with me now and I toggle anything I need in one of them. I take out time once or twice a week for trying things and I use my SSD now to try.
