Locked Question about Adobe After Effects 2020 and Intel 620 UHD igpu

Hi Guys,

Anybody here able to use After Effects 2020 with Intel 620 UHD igpu only? I notice the system requirements for AE 2020 requires atleast 2GB vram.

I'm looking for a budget laptop which at least it could do simple animation with native shape layers, text and ai files with very minimal effects.

Hi @rionroc.
I have used it with my Intel HD 610.
I tell you that I have 8GB of RAM and the renderings are very slow.
Remember that this type of GPU shares RAM with the operating system and it can dynamically add half of your total memory to the graphics.

The minimum specifications for AE 2020 are:
RAM: 16 GB minimum (32 GB recommended)
2GB of GPU VRAM.


Try it and see how it works for you.

Well first of all I don't know nothing about AE 2020 but if it is true that it needs minimum 2 GB VRAM than you need a dedicated GPU. Intel 620 UHD is an integrated and not a dedicated GPU. Being integrated it doesn't have VRAM. It will use the System’s Memory (RAM) as its Video Memory and it is allocated dynamically .
So in theory if you have 16 GB or more RAM it will work but the performance will be low because the RAM bandwidth is different from the VRAM bandwidth.
But if i were you I would go with a laptop that has a dedicated GPU.
