Boot up VM Linux machine. Choose VM > Install VMware Tools.
It should mount VMware tools as a drive.
Unpack the file into, for example, Downloads.
Enter terminal
- cd Downloads (be careful - linux is specific about lower and upper caps, "d" is NOT "D")
- check the name of the directory with "ls" command and then "cd name_of_the_directory"
- enter sudo ./nameofthefile.pl
- enter user/root password
- keep clicking enter 'till done
- reboot VM machine

"sudo" is for root privileges (like Run as Admin on Win) and "./ " is to tell Linux to run from the current directory

I'm writing this from memory, I am not at the computer that has VMware (at work now), so I can't remember the exact folder names and the filename (but you should recognize them, and the file you should run is the only *.pl file)
