Still not able to install on a laptop with Intel Core i7-6700HQ CPU, even tried swapping the install.wim file from a Win11 to a Win10 build. Any suggestion?

TPM 2.0 is enabled and visible

I've read that the only 7th generation Intel CPU that they are supporting is the 7820HQ. That is a crime against sustainability.
Have you done what is descripted correctly?
Because you are the only one who doesn't work
If you do it correct it will bypass everything is your system

I've found a registry entry that theoretically bypasses the unsupported CPU

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup\MoSetup
New > DWORD (32-bit) Value “AllowUpgradesWithUnsupportedTPMOrCPU”
Value data = 1

Hi Jerry, I have done the following:

1) Download Windows 10 and Windows 11 Insiders from Microsoft official site:
Windows10_InsiderPreview_Client_x64_en-us__19044.iso
Windows11_InsiderPreview_Client_x64_en-us_22454.iso

2) Burn Windows 10 Insider on a USB drive using Rufus

3) Delete the file "install.wim" located at the USB "/sources" folder

4) Mount the Windows 11 ISO file and copy the file "install.wim" to the USB "/sources" folder

5) Add these 3 entries to registry:
BypassTPMCheck=dword:00000001
BypassSecureBootCheck=dword:00000001
AllowUpgradesWithUnsupportedTPMOrCPU=dword:00000001

6) Use the Win10 USB with the Win11 "install.wim" to update Windows

Still not working

Maybe I should try a fresh install instead of an update? It is a PITA, though, because I have a lot of software installed

try with windows updates to upgrade your system and keep your softwares
Have you tried with the reg file, the one you described on your latest post

Just wanted to clarify something. By editing the registry does this mean on an upgrade? Where the registry of the OS that will be upgraded is already in existence. If this is so, by doing a clean install then, there is no registry yet. Unless it is (obviously) buried somewhere in all the files to be installed.

You edit the registry when you do an ugrade
If you do a clean installation you bypass your system as described with the shift +f10

So for a clean install, even on a virtual all I have to do is to Shift/F10 and not edit anything, correct? My install won't do anything when I press Shift/F10 (holding down the shift). Every other key works on my keyboard, will try another. If that still doesn't work, anything else I can do?

Edited to add my extra keyboard does call up a menu with Shift/F10. I'm off to try the original MS download now.
Well the admin command loaded with the Sources directory when I pressed Shift/F10. What do I do with this?

Nevermind regedit appeared, so went back to your first post. I am editing the registry as we speak!

Here are 3 interesting links that should help anyone having troubles :

Three outside links removed by staff.
Please read the site rules.

There are overall 5 bypassing variables +1 more for upgrades.
BypassCPUCheck
BypassStorageCheck
BypassRAMCheck
BypassTPMCheck
BypassSecureBootCheck
and
AllowUpgradesWithUnsupportedTPMOrCPU

All those reg keys can be added to boot.wim with the help of NTLITE at registry section by importing a reg file. Those will then be applyed at the start of installation setup without the need of shift F10

Sounds like what I need. I was able to get the Shift/F10 going and command, and the registry appeared. But the text and especially all those zeroes are just too tiny. A tutorial using Nlite would be nice :)

Are these reg keys already made somewhere and saved as a reg file? No matter what way I end up with, it would help if the .reg was correctly typed and entered.

An upgrade is what I have already tried several times. It fails after completing the process, saying that the system is not compatible
Yes, I have modified the reg file as I have described above.

Jerry, I finally was able to successfully edit the registry. But not as written.
------------------------------------------------
First (unsuccessful) I entered everything literally as written even all the zeros and the "1":
Didn't work

BypassTPMCheck=dword:00000001
BypassSecureBootCheck=dword:00000001
-----------------------------------------------
Then I tried again (successfully) by leaving off everything from the equal sign on
That is:

BypassTPMCheck
BypassSecureBootCheck
----------------------------------
Now once these were in there, I had to go back in to modify to change the "0" to "1"

And it worked.
----------------------------------
I don't know if this is the proper way, but it is the way that worked for me.

I am wondering if the examples you gave are for creating a reg file with notepad?
And my way for entering a Dword directly?

This is the way as you described, you have to set the value from 0 to 1 when you have enter the the new entris
Anyway glad you found a solution

Fresh/Clean install works. Working on my 6th gen i5 cpu.There is a Win 11 compatibility Intel update for the Graphics card.
