In my opinion, you should put software as 7-Zip, Firefox... in a folder because I usually use Winrar and Google Chrome. Anyway I always like your custom builds, thanks a lot.

There is a great software called PatchMyPC (also available here). Free and portable. Just open, select what you want and hit "Install". Except very rare cases all the process is fast and silent. @Jerry_Xristos did a very good job by removing components/tweaks. It's very simple to install apps in these days... And Firefox is better also because of better security (see their Facebook page).

to my surprise, everything is working to my liking, except--windows updates is GONE. what's a pity, however, it is a fair trade off.

Barebone editions are super light as they could be and WU is the first thing it should be removed, you won't find a barebone edition with WU working.

I respect your opinion but no browsers here (all removed) so I had to put one, I prefer Firefox (small size for installation)
The things you can do with 7zip you can't do them with winrar.
You can uninstall them and install what ever you like thou

You can give it a try with DISM++ if you can add the printing section
