Hello ,

Everyone is fine ?

Today I come to you because a friend is trying to get a Windows 7 X64 + recovery partition,

by searching the web we talk about:

- murphy78's DiskPart and Apply script 1.0.0 to 1.2.8 but apparently the: 1.2.8 no longer supports Windows 7

- DiskPart and Apply script

- DiskPart

I would be delighted to be able to tell me what is wrong or how to proceed for Windows 7 X64 please?

Many thanks to you friends.

Can you be a bit more clear? What do you mean by "get"? Is he trying to recover from a recovery partition or want to create one? The way you phrase your request can mean either. The tools you describe are for creating partitions but at the end, you ask "what is wrong" for me it shows that you try to recover perhaps.

Tell us
a. what you want to do,
b. What have you tried
c. What and where it went wrong with error messages/codes etc.

The more specific you are the more specific we can be too.

You can create a partition with any tool you want, even from within Windows with the build-in disk manager. I don't think you need anything special for that. You can then use windows backup (or any other backup program) to create a system image of windows 7 in the way you have installed it and you are set.

FYI: Windows 7 don't create a recovery partition on their own as Windows 10 does.

I hope I understood your question right.

Hello again @Cyler

he hasn't started yet

Basically he would like to build a Windows 7 X64 and in addition
to add a recovery partition to it in the construction, as with branded computers.

HP, DELL, etc have custom solutions made from their IT but basically, the "recovery" is a clean windows setup that boots from a partition much like you boot from a USB. The solution I told you will benefit your friend more as it can save the current state of windows with drivers, programs, and settings as he has them. If something goes wrong, he can boot from USB and just use restore to get the system and drivers/settings and save time rather than re-install and setting up again.

To answer your question, what you ask has to be done manually and to my knowledge, there is no automatic way.

1. Create a 4 GB partition, assign any letter (I would suggest Z), format as NTFS, name it Recovery partition, or whatever name you like.
2. Copy and paste all the files from the Windows 7 installation to the new partition
3. Download the EasyBCD and run it and:
  • Click ---> Create a new entry
  • Select WinPE tab
  • Set path to the z:\sources\boot.wim (replace Z: with the drive letter you set above)
And that's about it. Next time you will boot you should see 2 options (normal and recovery) and there you go.

Hope it helped.

sorry to interfere but the easiest way is to use a back up program and do the job
with the recovery partition and lets say you manage to make it and work in windows 7 you will have a back up as wndows 7 installed for the first time (no updates, programs etc.)
as @Cyler said you will have your system always with the latest updates, drivers and programs you have installed the day before
just make a back up in an external disk or a usb, you can also set it up to make automaticals backups
hope i helped

Do I understand correctly that is done in the construction of Windows?

or after when the installation is finished?
