Many thanks for sharing this. This solved my update issue. CheersFYI to all - Windows Update is not disabled. Certain parts of it are disabled as it shows on the first post -You must be registered for see links
For anyone that might not be able to check/download Windows updates: there are workarounds
First, type 'gpedit.msc' in the search bar. Press Enter. This panel will show -You must be registered for see links
In that panel, on the left side click 'Administrative Templates' , then 'Windows Components', then scroll down and click 'Windows Update'.
On the right side, you will see a list of options that will show 'Not Configured' by default.
The options highlighted in the red boxes are the options to look for -You must be registered for see links
Once you have done exactly as it shows in those red boxes, reboot your PC. Once logged back in, check Windows Update. You should see this:You must be registered for see links
Clicking the link to check online for updates will allow Windows Update to check for and download/install updates again. You must be registered for see links
Note: it will still attempt to download/install Defender updates, but since Defender is permanently disabled, it will fail.
Note 2: an unintentional consequence of disabling the section highlighted in the red box -You must be registered for see linksalso keeps Windows update from downloading cumulative updates.
The above workaround should fix it.
Almost forgot - updated from build 928 to build 964 -You must be registered for see links
