Gillmeister Rename Expert is a lightweight Windows application whose purpose is to help user rename files and folders in a batch mode using several preset actions. The program provides many thoughtful features to allow a flexible and comfortable renaming of data of all types (music files, image files, documents, etc.). These include the replacement or exchange of specific areas in the name, or moving a part of the file or folder name to any position. By using metadata such as Exif, IPTC, and ID3, the creation or modification date, or the name of a parent folder can be included in the title automatically.

Rename Expert contains many functions and features for advanced users which allows, for example, the use of regular expressions or the command line for automated renaming. Additionally, the content of text files can be used for naming, for example, the title of HTML files or values from XML files. With a few simple clicks, the user can number files and folders, shorten long file names, rename file extensions and much more. Despite its diversity of functions, the program is straightforward to use. With Rename Expert, meaningless file names are a thing of the past!

Gillmeister Rename Expert is the winner of the numerous awards as an excellent tool that will help a user to manage their files with a level of efficiency; it never thought possible!

Spoiler: Key Features:

• Allows simultaneously the batch renaming folders along with subfolders and files in one go (incl. network support);
• The extensive filter and sort functions can be used for metadata, allowing the inclusion and exclusion of files and folders;
• Use CSV files for naming;
• Data can be moved or copied into subfolders whose naming is based on metadata (e.g., picture taken a date, creation date, etc.);
• Adding the checksum (MD5, SHA, CRC32) of the file contents to the file name;
• The encryption of folder and file names;
• The possibility of adding random characters to file names as well as to rename files completely random;
• All changes are shown in real-time and are checked for errors (e.g., duplicate name) to avoid possible conflicts;
• Metadata (EXIF, IPTC, ID3, etc.) can be used for the naming of files (e.g., for images and audio files);
• Files and folders can be numbered sequentially or in random order. An existing numbering can be easily overwritten or adjusted;
• Generate filenames automatically from file contents of documents (e.g., XML, HTML, or log files);
• File extensions can be arbitrarily changed (e.g., jpeg to jpg). They can be added or removed, and their case is individually customizable;
• Renaming files or folders that exceed a path length of 260 characters, and therefore can no longer be edited using Windows Explorer;
• Action lists allow a combination of any different number of actions and can be saved as a profile for future reuse.

• Recovery of the last state is now also possible via a batch file (see Tools --> Create batch file);
• Extra button to empty the list;
• Sorting default changed to natural sorting;
• New action "Change filter": Apply subsequent actions only to objects with changed properties;
• Some optimizations.
