Quick fix to get 3 more tries for each feature after it expires (copy and paste into Powershell ISE, then run it)
The actual timebomb value does change (I didn't think it did), but you can find it very easily with Procmon.
Launch Excel with Kutools
Launch Procmon
Set filter process name excel.exe and path contains "InprocServer32".
Click on the expired countdown icon in the task bar
Stop capture in Procmon
Find the value with very long number in registry and jump to it in Procmon from the entries it found the in the trace (example: HKCR\CLSID\{C90659C9-DD28-6AA2-F00B-75988AABF9B}\InProcServer32\(Default) and in the details pane, you will see a long string of numbers)
Close Excel
Delete the whole registry key
Uninstall Kutools
Reinstall Kutools
Viola, another 30 days. If you just delete the registry key under HKCR with the long series of numbers, the software expires immediately, so that's why you have to uninstall/reinstall it after deleting the key.
This is software I use about once a year at work, so can't justify the cost of buying it for work and of course every time I need to use it it's frigging expired and I have to remember how I "cleaned" the trial data off.
Code:
Remove-Item -Path "HKCU:\SOFTWARE\ExtendOffice\*" -Force -Verbose
Remove-Item -Path "HKCU:\SOFTWARE\KutoolsforExcel\*" -Force -Verbose
Remove-Item -Path "HKCU:\SOFTWARE\Kutools for Excel\*" -Force -Verbose
Remove-Item -Path "HKCU:\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\Hangs\*" -Force -Verbose
Remove-Item -Path "HKLM:\SOFTWARE\ExtendOffice\*" -Force -Verbose
