Movienizer is a comprehensive database management tool designed for motion pictures, featuring advanced sorting, search, backup and restore statistics and reports. It lets users organise a collection of favourite or yet unseen movies, as well as actors, to generate reports and statistics.
Apart from viewing movie details, it is possible to sort the collection by movies, writers, directors, actors, years, genre, IMDb rating and many other criteria, as well as to use a search function with thorough filters to identify a movie or person. Adding a new film or person to the database can be done using simple wizards, where the user can fill in the details or fetch them from the Internet. Alternatively, the user can edit existing information. The database size may be reduced, while a backup copy can be created and saved to any part of the hard disk, in case the original file is lost or accidentally deleted.
Movienizer also provides a function for synchronising movies between a user computer and the server, creating a movie catalogue for the Dune player, importing movie info from text files, extracting episode covers from data, and so on. Movienizer can store user own movie rating, as well as ratings of online movie databases (like IMDb) and create an illustrated movie catalogue for media players: Dune, Popcorn, WDTV and Google TV. Thanks to Movienizer user will know everything about the world of movies. Learn what awards were given to the film, it is budget, what people were starring in it. Find out at what age the actors played in the movie, when they were born, in what other films they participated. Prepare user to be called a "walking encyclopedia".
In a few seconds, the user will learn everything about the movie or the actor that the user finds interesting. The film cataloger will automatically perform an Internet search and download necessary information (movie synopsis, movie cover, movie rating, movie awards, gross, shots, filmography). All of this will be saved in the local film database, and the user will be able to remember instantly in which movie a favourite actor played, or to review a movie description.
The tool offers support for plugins and multiple UI languages, has a good response time and runs on low CPU and RAM. Movienizer supplies users with an extensive set of features and configuration settings for organising movie collections.

What is new in version 9.1 (Released on April 02, 2019):
The new engine of Movienizer:
- Movienizer 9.1 works faster than previous versions, thanks to many changes. There are multiple optimisations not only in database access queries and information output but also in downloading information about movies and people from the internet.
Showing covers and photos in search results for sites that serve content via HTTPS only:
- After some sites moved to the encrypted data transfer protocol, the old version of Movienizer started to show search results without pictures for such sites. In Movienizer 9.1, support for this protocol was added, so it is now possible to show previews again.
Quick filter for people:
- Besides movies, quick filters are now available for people as well. Now, if the user switches to the "Persons" tab and clicks the "Quick filter" menu item, the relevant options will be shown. For people, filtering by custom fields is available.
Right-click on a link brings the context menu for the corresponding person or movie:
- For user convenience, the new version of Movienizer added a context menu to links. Now user can easily manipulate people from a movie directly on the movie's page, or, the other way around, manage videos from a person's filmography.
Search the selected phrase in Google:
- In Movienizer 9.1 it is easier to get additional information about exciting facts from actors' biographies or movie descriptions. A user can highlight a phrase with the mouse, right-click it and choose to look it up in Google.
If a movie is already in user collection, a warning is displayed:
- Downloading information about movies and people, Movienizer 9.1 will show a warning if a user selects a film that already exists in the personal collection. It may be helpful to avoid choosing a wrong entry when loading details of similar movies (movies with the same title, videos from a movie series, etc.).
More formats are supported by default in the video file scanner:
- In Movienizer 9.1, additional popular video formats are enabled by default in the file scanner. Just like previously, a user can disable unwanted formats or add own ones in the file scanner settings.
New Group Operations. It is now easier to select movies and people:
- New Group Operations allow to select videos or people in one click. Besides, the user no longer needs to enable them explicitly in the menu. A user can move the mouse cursor to a movie's cover or a person's photo in the list and click the checkbox that appears to mark the entry as selected.
Switch the list to the tree view using the button in the lower part of the window:
- Previous versions of Movienizer had four tabs in the list area: Collection, Movies, Persons, and Search. The "Collection" tab switched the list into the tree view, where additional sorting options were available. In Movienizer 9.1, the Collection view is enabled by clicking the button in the lower part of the list, near the detailed view and cover view buttons.
New settings window:
- Movienizer 9.1 got a new settings window with better navigation by categories.
The directory tree is closed after scanning for movies:
- After scanning and retrieving a list of files Movienizer 9.1 hides the directory tree automatically. It allows a user to work with the resulting titles more conveniently: check, edit, and so on. If necessary, the directory tree can be opened again with a double click on edge or by dragging it to the left.
Interface scripts updated:
- There are changes and optimisations in interface scripts, too. All official scripts have been updated: Breeze, Orange, Modern, Original.
