It is reported that the update brought improved integration with the graphics editors Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom through the use of smart objects. The local U-Point tool has been updated and a new set of presets has been added. Tools such as Viveza and Silver Efex received the most innovations.
The U-Point local correction tool in the new version of the software works more accurately - this is an improved version of the tool, compared to the 3rd version, the developer says. In addition, now the total number of ready-made presets in the total number of plug-ins is over 250: 10 of them are new for Viveza and 39 for Silver Efex.
Updated U Point technology now allows customizable preset correction points to be applied to multiple shots at once, while maintaining a defined area. This tool has been updated with fewer sliders, which DxO says makes it easier to work with adjustments.
So-called meta-presets have also appeared - a new type of filters that combine presets and settings of several Nik Collection plugins into one, which will help create more unique images, according to the software developer.
Regarding the improved integration with Photoshop and Lightroom, it is reported that the updated Last Edit feature allows you to reapply the last preset that was used in one of the plugins. In addition, this new feature allows you to reapply a plug-in action effect to one or more images directly in the Adobe Lightroom editor.
Also, a major update has come to the Silver Efex plugin - it has a new tool called ClearView. A similar tool is already available in the DxO PhotoLab RAW Converter. This functionality allows you to remove haze and enhance local contrast. It is reported to do this more gently than the Dehaze tool in Lightroom.
