Actually, there are tons of way but before that let me ask you this, is your USB new or old?

If it is a old one, have you used it enough for it to be depreciate, because newer generation of USB has their last resort to write protect their entire disk upon the EOL of USB so that the user may not lose anything important stored in the disk. Upon which, it is best to copy whatever you had stored in the said USB and thank it for its service and move on to buy a new USB.

If it is a new one, you can Google "how to remove write protection attribute to a disk"

There are quite a few ways to clear write protection in windows using registry, cmd. Try those first to see if you can clear the protection the disk.

Upon failure, try using low level format and any other thing that google suggest.

Upon failure, use linux and gparted to clear the WP and format the USB.

Upon failure, i would like to know the possibilities too.

if there is any chance you need to recall some few things:
1. when was the last time you had write access for the same USB drive? if yes, then on which PC?
2. since then, did you freshly/clean install windows?

You should be able to use Diskpart to take care of this.

"THE DISK IS WRITE PROTECTED" First 3 post on duckduckgo or google... They give the solution to this problem, and @Jamer54 is right, diskpart is good in this.

Don't know if I would even trust it with critical data. If the usb is a ventoy candidate then perfect... no loss if it crashes. peace.

@ikram62 , this thread is soon to be closed, trust me I've tried everything to date to format a "write protected" usb stick... with zero luck... now it's in the garbage, got 2 replacements for less money than this one lol... Just saying, do your homework try google for tools, chances are you'll most likely give up.
