Certain days stay in your mind forever.

January 29, 1987 - Daughter born.
August 9, 1997 - Married my best friend.
August 27, 2020 - Diagnosed with Stage III Pancreatic Cancer

My wife is a 12 year survivor of breast cancer. I have just finished
6 months of intense radiation and chemotherapy. Part 1 of the journey
is now complete. Part 2 begins on May 19th. I will be away from TeamOS
for about a month or two for a "Whipple Procedure" and then begin life anew!

I tell you this not as a call for sympathy or sorrow, but mainly as a
reminder to TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF and get regular checkups. I got very
lucky with my diagnosis as there were so few symptoms, and mine was
already at stage III. Im lucky it hasnt metastasized anywhere else, thus
qualifying me for the surgery. 20% of the 15,000 people diagnosed every
year get the surgery. The other 80% are sent home on short term hospice
with about 6-12 months left to live. I have been blessed and am grateful.

The staff here has been AWESOME! They were made aware immediately, and have
not shown ANY favoritism nor "specialness" towards me, which I appreciate
more than anything. I delayed letting the rest of the forum know til I was
past the 1st part of the journey and getting ready for part 2.

Please DONT fill the comments section with "cancer comments" and instead
concentrate on the OS itself, and the message to keep yourself healthy.
Feel free to PM "well wishes" if you like. I have never turned down a prayer
and dont plan to start now. I've always been transparent, so I feel ya'll
should know, plus, the fact that I'm not around for 2 months wont go un-noticed.

There are SO many different ribbons and colors. I concentrated on the 2
that have changed my families lives. One day cancer will be a memory for ALL!
