I also did update and notepad worked fine! With 2004 user can install/uninstall notepad as he wishes! Try to reinstall. Notepad works fine!

Then use untouched ISO and compare. 2004 is heavier than previous builds. And this one uses only 1.1 to 1.2 GB. Too much I do not think so. I think you make a premature conclusion!

The CPU works more than usual only at the beginning after clean installation because Windows automatically start to install OneDrive. That process can be easily turn off in the Task Manager. Also, if you do not like OneDrive at all then open folder Extras on the Desktop and run the script to remove OneDrive completely.
On the contrary, maybe it is time to clean the computer's fan or buy a new one.
