I am currently using this build on my Surface pro. I Love it!
I was thinking about installing this build on my friends PC, but I have only one issue- Windows Defender. Is there any way of enabling it on this build? That would save me the trouble of finding another AV.
I have tried to google remedies and I am running out of option.
If I get that working, I would rate 10/10 for this build.

@BanjaX @irwiin161 @velenson This is late, but I just had to setup defender on this build (Ultimate 11 Neon V2). The issue is not that Defender itself is disabled, that is an easy fix, but that the entire security service is not only disabled, but disabled via registry tweaks. Here is how I solved this issue and got Defender running on this sick ass build.

Shoutout to @FBConan, love what you're doing, but please have some information on your website or that helpful thread with info on the store and the android environment on how to re-enable this! ESET just realized I have been pirating they shit, so I scoured all your resources and posts and couldn't find a thing on this. I apologize if I missed it!


Here is how I re-enabled the security service and defender.

First, download dControl

Virustotal for the wary, your antivirus if you have one will lose it's I AM AN IDIOT mind over this file

Next, while this script did not work for me, it did lead me to the exact registry keys necessary to get the Security Service started again.

I ran this registry key first, was prompted with an error about not being able to edit all the values due to insufficient permissions and/or a program using those keys (had yet to restart after unisntalling ESET, your mileage may vary).
I inspected the keys manually and besides one single key - [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\wscsvc] "Start"=dword:00000002 - it had changed everything. Manually changed that registry key and restarted, security service immediately worked again, and defender is running on this build!

It's clearly stated to go for a clean install but is it mandatory or just a suggestion?

In other words is it worth taking the chances of an update of a previous W11 Install if willing to loose some Windows functionality but keep some already installed progs?
